Kalaheo, Kauai

Kalaheo, Hawaii is a quaint little town that could remind one of something out of the Old West. Located on the southern portion of Kauai, the town began with 178-acres of land leased by Duncan McBryde from King Kamehameha III in 1860. After Duncan's death, his son, Walter, purchased the land and set aside a large portion for homesteading. In 1929 a golf course was built here, and today it is one of the nicest private courses on the island, Kukulolono Park and Golf Course.

Kalaheo is conveniently located for jumping off into other areas on Kauai. Head west to Waimea Canyon and see "the Grand Canyon of the Pacific." Or venture east to the gorgeous beaches of Poipu.
