Italian Ice

This winter, from December 3rd-6th, holidaymakers can stay in a rented holiday home in Italy and head to the Livigno resort in Sondrio for the Art in Ice event. Artists the world over head to the festival to make the mono-color artworks, with ten teams of three sculptors each being admitted to the competition every year. The event strives for purity and simplicity, with strict rules on the dimensions of the three square meter snow blocks and banning of chainsaws, other electrical cutting tools and all means of coloring the snow. Artists compete against the ice and one another for the judges and spectators awards, forming beautiful works for all visitors to enjoy.
