Beaches for Guests of Indian Rocks Beach Vacation Rentals

Vacationers staying in Indian Rocks Beach and Indian Shores condos can enjoy miles of beautiful white sand beaches, perfect for enjoying all types of water sports. Pinellas County maintains several beachfront parks in the area with parking, restrooms, and drinking fountains. County parks are open from 7:00 a.m. to dark and admission is free. The Tiki Gardens access to Indian Shores Beach is located at 19601 Gulf Blvd. (727-549-6165) and the Indian Rocks Beach access is located at 1700 Gulf Blvd. (727-588-4852).

The Pier 60 Park, situated just south of the Hilton Resort in nearby Clearwater Beach, offers a wonderful covered children's playground with slides, swings, monkey bars, a ship, and an enormous sand box. Each evening, during the two hours before and after sunset, visitors staying in an Indian Rocks Beach rental can enjoy the Sunsets at Pier 60 Festival, which features artisans, crafters, street performers, and live musical entertainment. Also at Pier 60 is a 1,050-foot fishing pier, offering great Gulf fishing. Fishing equipment rental is available and no fishing license is required.

Sand Key Park, located just south of Clearwater Pass at the north end of Sand Key, offers half a mile of lovely white sand beach with picnic shelters, grills, restrooms, changing rooms, and free admission.

To the south of Indian Rocks Beach and Indian Shores condominiums is the beachfront community of Madeira Beach. One of the top attractions in this area is John's Pass Village and Boardwalk (727-297-1571), situated just north of John's Pass. This historic fishing village is home to a fleet of boats that offer deep-sea fishing, dolphin watching cruises, dinner cruises, sailboat charters, parasailing, sightseeing cruises, and casino cruises. The charming shopping district features more than 100 shops and restaurants, and there's plenty of free parking.

The most popular beach park in the area is Fort De Soto Park (727-582-2267), situated in Tierra Verde about 45 minutes south of beach cottages in Indian Shores. This fabulous 1,136-acre beach park is made up of five interconnected islands and contains more than seven miles of waterfront, including three miles of fine white sand beach. Fort De Doto's North Beach has been named America's Top Beach by "Dr. Beach."

The North Beach offers two large swim centers and food concessions, and the East Beach boasts a large picnic shelter that can accommodate up to 200 visitors. In addition to beach activities, visitors staying in Indian Rocks Beach Florida vacation rentals can paddle down the 2.25-mile canoe trail and explore several nature trails. A 6.8-mile, 12-foot wide paved trail connects the North Beach Swim Center, the East Beach Swim Center, and the historic fort.

Other facilities for guests of Indian Rocks Beach condos include an 800-foot-long boat launch with eleven floating docks, a 500-foot fishing pier on Tampa Bay, a 1,000-foot pier on the Gulf, food and bait concessions, 14 group picnic shelters, 20 restroom buildings, a snack bar, and a souvenir shop. Kayak, canoe, and bicycle rentals are also available within the park.

Historic features of Fort De Soto Park include the 12-inch mortar battery, located at the fort for which the park was named, and the Quartermaster Storehouse Museum.
