Honokaa, Big Island

Honokaa, Hawaii, located in the northeastern part of the Big Island, is a picture of what Hawaii must have looked like when sugar was the biggest export. Honokaa has been left alone by developers, and offers a great spot for jumping off into the nearby Kohala Coast area.

Every Saturday local farmers show off their wares at the Honokaa Farmers Market in front of the Botelho Building. Don't expect arts and crafts. This is all about food. Fresh baked pastries, bananas, papayas, and bushel after bushel of garden vegetables are available for wonderfully low prices.
