Deerfield Beach, Florida

Deerfield Beach, Florida is a great spot for a Florida vacation. Outdoorsy types will love the pristine one-mile beach where sun bathing, jet skiing, sailing, and people watching are at a premium. Anglers can cast a line from the International Fishing Pier, or toss in a line from shore. Surfers can catch a wave at any point north of the pier.

Nature lovers and eco-tourists will love Deerfield Island Park. This heavily wooded 56-acre site is accessible only by boat. The park provides a critical habitat for the gopher tortoise and is a nesting place for squirrels, raccoons, and armadillos. There are two small trails on the island, and kids will love the Tom Sawyeresque quality!

History buffs will appreciate The South Florida Railway Museum. The museum is located in the historic former Seaboard Air Line railroad station. The station was built in 1926 during the Seaboard's push into South Florida to compete with Henry Flagler's Florida East Coast Railway.

Deerfield Beach is located on Florida's Gold Coast, a name that reflects both the golden sand and the wealth of the region from Palm Beach to Miami. The town is less than 20 miles from Fort Lauderdale, and less than 40 miles from Miami and famous South Beach. Boca Raton, with all its grace and splendor, is a short hop north.
