A Massachusetts marriage license is required for a Cape Cod wedding. The license can be obtained from any city or town clerk for a fee of approximately $20 and is valid for 60 days. The bride and groom must apply for the license in person, be at least 18 years of age, and submit a medical certificate completed within the past 30 days. There is a three-day waiting period from the date of application to the date the license is issued. Massachusetts law does not require that any witnesses be present at the ceremony.
Medical certificates can be obtained from any Massachusetts physician.
