A Hawaii Marriage License is required for getting married on the Big Island of Hawaii. Marriage license applications are taken by appointment only; call the Governor's Office of Information in Kailua-Kona at 808-327-4953 for information. Both the bride and groom must appear in person and show photo identification. The license appointment lasts about 15 minutes and the license is issued at that time.
Parental consent or a court order are required if either party is under 18 years of age. If either party has been divorced, you'll need to know the exact date the divorce became final. If the divorce occurred in the past three months, you'll also need a copy of the final divorce decree.
The license fee is $60 cash and the license is valid anywhere in the state for 30 days. There are no residence or citizenship requirements, and there's no waiting period after receipt of the license. Ministers or officiates must be licensed and commissioned by the State of Hawaii, and at least one witness to the marriage is required.
