Brief Description: This charming two-bedroom cabin is nestled in the Gallatin forest about half an hour from Bozeman. Enjoy quiet days in the woods watching the wildlife, or just reading a book on the back deck. Summer guests can go for a hike right from the back door, and winter guests may take a ten minute drive to Bridger Bowl ski area, or Bohart Ranch for cross-country skiing.
Bedrooms and baths: The home has two bedrooms and one bathroom. The master bedroom has a king size, log frame bed and great views of the forest through the french doors out to the deck. The second bedroom is a large "bunk room" upstairs, set up with a queen bed, double bed, futon bed, and a crib. The one full bath in the home is on the main level, and has a tub and shower.
Kitchen and dining: The kitchen is an efficient galley style kitchen with just about everything: fridge, gas range, toaster oven, blender and all the cookware and serving ware you should need. There is no microwave at this house. A nice size dining table that seats six is on one side of the cabin's living area. The whole dining and living area is wrapped with huge windows to take in the forest views outside.
Living room: The cozy living room has a wood stove to warm the chilly evenings, and furnishings which are very tasteful, as well as comfortable. There is a TV with satellite service and a DVD player (plus lots of DVDs to watch) along with a stereo/CD player.
Setting, acreage, views: The home sits on 20 acres in a secluded location between Bozeman and Livingston. It is located just 8 miles or so east of Bridger Bowl ski area. The last 1/2 mile or so to the cabin is on a fairly rough dirt road. A higher clearance vehicle is good in the summer, and four wheel drive is required from October through May.
Outdoor Amenities: The home has a large deck with a picnic table, adirondack chairs and a gas grill. There is also a fire pit in the back yard which can be used most of the year. Summer and fall rentals are not allowed to have outside fires due to fire danger. Bird and wildlife-watching opportunities abound.
Services available: The rental rate includes a weekly cleaning. Additional housekeeping, as well as catering services, and grocery shopping, can be arranged with a bit of prior notice.
Activities nearby: Besides hiking and mountain biking right out your front door, there is skiing at Bridger Bowl Ski area just minutes away. Fishing, horseback riding, golf, skiing, tours of Yellowstone National Park, and more is available! The towns of Livingston, Gardiner and Bozeman have an amazing array of shops and restaurants as well.
Closest town and airport: It's about 30 to 35 miles to Livingston, 20 miles to Bozeman and 30 miles to Bozeman's Gallatin Field airport. Yellowstone National Park is an hour and a half away.
Other details: No smoking is allowed in the home. No pets are allowed on the property or in the home without prior written approval from Mountain Home. The home has a private phone, and a washer and dryer. All Mountain Home properties have fully equipped kitchens, and include good quality kitchen, bath and bed linens, and staples like paper goods, laundry, dish and hand soaps.
