- The Schoolhouse has three bedrooms and a sleeping/TV loft with a futon that can turn into a queen bed. The main upstairs bedroom is large and private, with beautiful window looking out from the bed. This room has a queen bed by the window, and a double mattress tucked away in the corner -- we use that mattress for putting young children to sleep or for an extra person who doesnt mind being low down. Downstairs you will find two bedrooms. First a small bedroom off of the living room with bunkbeds. The bottom is a full, the top a twin. This is a great room for kids! They seem to love the bunkbeds and dont mind the small quarters. There is a closet. Second, in the back of the house is a larger room with a Queen bed. This room is great for anyone. It has a beamed ceiling so you have lots of space and a big closet.

Location: Harbor Springs, Petosky, Menonaqua Beach: The school house is located in the ideal part of Little Traverse bay-- Menonaqua Beach Club. This beach is between Harbor Cove and Petosky State Park. The sandy beach is privately owned and is surrounded by a pristine bay of clear deep blue water with a sandy bottom and with a gentle slope down, so it's perfect for water enthusiasts of all ages. There are small natural streams and springs on the beach that everyone loves to explore and dig. It is a perfect place to bring or rent your favorite water toys -- a kayak (we have a canoe here) or sailboat or windsurfer. If you have a motorboat you can rent a slip in nearby Harbor Springs as we don't have docks on these beaches, but you can anchor off-shore for the day. Limiting access like this makes our beach a safe, fun, and peaceful place to swim, sunbathe, and take long walks. Sunsets here are spectacular. Sit on the beach, read a book, enjoy a fire and watch the Sun go down for your summer vacation.
The Schoolhouse: The Schoolhouse was first built and operated as a county School in the late 1800's. It has been changed a little since then, but the basic one room school house design is there. The furnishings are simple and a bit old fashioned, but the beds are new, and the major amenities are here so you can have a perfect family vacation for an affordable price. Linens and towels are furnished, there is a TV with cable and a VCR, you have a pretty well equipped kitchen, for a beach-house-- though you do have to get your own groceries -- with plates, glasses, wine glasses, coffee maker, toaster, cutlery etc. The house is light and airy, sits on a wooded lot, with a sunny deck and is right across the street from the beach.
Things to do in Harbor Springs and Environs: The beautiful resort town of Harbor Springs is a flat 2.5 mile bike ride or jog away, and you will find lots to do in historic downtown Petosky (about 6 miles away) as well. Both feature music, movies, lunch in the park, and of course - world class shopping, Golf and Tennis. A bike path connecting Harbor Springs, Petosky and even Charlevoix is close at hand. Petosky State Park is only a mile away, and the rustic wild Wilderness State Park is just 30 min north of us in Cross Village. Try a day trip to Mackinaw Island or Fort Mackinaw (its only a 40 minute drive to the ferry) or take an afternoon for dinner in Cross Village at the famous Leggs Inn. A visit to the Thorne Swift Nature Preserve in Harbor Springs can be a great family day -- there is a visitor center and they have scheduled nature activities for all.
