Transportation on Nantucket:
It is not necessary to bring your vehicle on Nantucket. However, if you choose to bring your vehicle you must call the Steamship Authority and make your reservations far in advance to ensure the week you are sailing. Nantucket offers bicycles, moped and car rentals. As well, the National Regional Transit Authority (NRTA) Island Shuttle goes almost everywhere on the island. The Miacomet Loop stops right outside the courtyard where the Sweet Briar is located. Service is every twenty minutes. Service is from Memorial Day to Columbus Day weekend. It is recommended that you arrive to the cottage by car or taxi. There are many restaurants on Nantucket to choose from. Here are some restaurants as suggestions: Inexpensive-Moderate: Fairgrounds Restaurant (great salad bar and early bird specials), Kitty Murtagh's, Brotherhood of Thieves, AK Diamonds, LOLA Global Bistro & Sushi Bar, Sushi by Yoshi, The SeaGrille, Arno's on Main Street, Even Keel, Cinco. Other restaurants (expensive): Topper's at the Wauwinet, The Chanticleer. For good take-out inexpensive seafood for the entire family (or dine on the deck), Sayle's Fresh or Cooked Seafood.
Golf in the Area:
The Miacomet Golf Course, located at 12 West Macomet Road, is right up the street off of Hummock Pond Road. The Miacomet Golf Course is Nantucket's only 18 hole public golf course. There is a lovely restaurant on site, and also a driving range.
