Sports:
The Stockbridge Golf course is open to non-members. The town has 4 public tennis courts in town within walking distance and more at the high school 3 miles away. This area is especially noted for its many hiking trails. You can pick up and walk the Appalaichian trail at many points. On a cool day biking on our many back roads is an option. There are many streams that can be fished. On a hot day you can cool off at several Berkshire lakes nearby, or take an occasional dip in our swimming pool. And for those who just want to sit back with a good book, we have lawn chairs to stretch out on and a wonderful view to please the eye.
Cultural Activities:
The Berkshires is especially noted for its many cultural offerings. Stockbridge has the Berkshire Theater Festival. Five miles from Stockbridge is Tanglewood, summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra with musical events every evening and many on weekends. Five miles away is also the home of Shakespeare and Company and ten miles east is the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival. There is a Fringe Festival at Simon's Rock College five miles South in Great Barrington. Also in Great Barrington is a 3 screen art movie theater. A little further south will take you to Sheffield and the Barrington Stage Company. And into Connecticutt you can attend Chamber music concerts in Norfolk and Falls Village. Art Galleries are everywhere, Housatonic, Lenox, Great Barrington. And there are four major museums, the Rockwell museum in Stockbridge, the Clark and Williams College Museum in Williamstown and Mass Moca, the new museum of contemporary art in North Adams.
Wiinter Sports:
In the winter if there is snow we have wonderful cross country ski trails. And even if there is no snow, the ski areas, Butternut Basin, Catamount, Bousquet, Jiminy Peak all make snow. If the weather permits, we skate on the many ponds and lakes that abound and for the dedicated skater there is a rink in North Adams.
