Amelia Island features a wide array of tourist attractions such as uncrowded beaches, fine restaurants, boutiques, galleries, and many diverse recreational activities such as top rated golf courses, tennis, beachcombing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, miniature golf, water slide, volleyball, horseback riding, cruising on the Amelia River or you may want to take a day trip over to Cumberland Island. One of the most popular events is the Shrimp Festival which is always held the first weekend in May. The streets of historic downtown Fernandina are filled with art, crafts, antiques, live music, children's activities and lots of delicious local seafood. A 50 block area of Downtown Fernandina Beach is listed on the National Register of Historic Places because of its amazing preservation of late Victorian architecture with its many mansions and cottages.

Fort Clinch State Park
Fort Clinch is one of the most well-preserved 19th century forts in the country. Daily tours with period reenactments depicting garrison life bring the fort to life for visitors. Sunbathing, swimming, and beachcombing are popular activities at the beach. Anglers can fish from the pier or take advantage of excellent surf fishing. Hikers and bicyclists can enjoy a six-mile trail through the park. Self-guided nature trails provide opportunities to learn about and observe native plants and wildlife.
