Description of the Salisbury vacation apartment rental

Newly renovated and comfortably furnished duplex apartment in the historic district of Salisbury. Apartment adjoins the main house, but is fully private with separate entrance, parking and porch. The first floor features the grand living room with a wood-burning marble fireplace, a full-size sleeper sofa, and a delightful ambiance created by natural light and beautiful hardwood floors. There is a roomy and bright dining area, and kitchen fully-equipped with brand new appliances. The second floor has 2 spacious and sunny bedrooms each with a queen-size bed. House is on 3.5 acres of walk-able property. We are located just a 5 minute walk from the charming Salisbury town center, convenient for an evening stroll to the ice cream parlor or our wholesome food market, LaBonnes. The town of Lakeville with its excellent restaurants and beautiful public lake is a 5 minute drive away. Come enjoy the beauty, activities, and repose of the Northwest corner in your very own 1840s historic home!

Our location in the northwest corner of Connecticut offers something for everyone, from outdoor activities to museums and theater to fine dining, all to be found in the array of charming towns within a short drive from the house-- Lakeville, Canaan, Sharon, and Falls Village in CT, Millerton NY, Great Barrington, Lenox, Lee, Stockbridge and other historic towns of the Berkshires in MA. The year-round attractions include many antique shops, excellent restaurants, museums, and performances, as well as car racing at Lime Rock and the Skip Barber driving school. Seasonal activities include: beautiful autumn drives or nature walks to view spectacular New England fall foliage; winter skiing at one of our 3 nearby mountains (Butternut, Catamount, and Mohawk); summer hiking on the Appalachian Trail, excellent golf courses, bike trails, horseback riding, and of course water activities on the Housatonic River (fly-fishing, kayaking, rafting) or one of 4 local lakes (swimming, boating).

Porch furnished with wicker rockers and table for enjoying the breeze or the passing birds and wildlife. First floor has ½ bath and washer/drier, upstairs has full bath with tub and shower. A/C window units throughout apartment. Phone available for use. There is no cell phone reception at the house (no tower in Salisbury yet), but signal available a few minutes drive either side of town. High-speed wireless internet available if you bring your own computer.

Our summer scene boasts renowned musical venues such as Tanglewood, Music Mountain, Berkshire Choral Festival, and the Yale Summer School of Music in Norfolk for phenomenal classical orchestral and choral concerts as well as Jazz festivals and chamber music. Also rich in theater and dance, there are regular performances at nearby Jacob’s Pillow, Shakespeare & Company, Tri-Arts, and the Berkshire Theater Festival.
